On May 27, “2024 The 16th Water Treatment Chemicals Technology and Application Exhibition (Clena Water China )” organized by China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC) was officially opened in Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.
(Clena Water China 2024), organized by China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC), was officially opened in Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.
With the theme of “Green - Low Carbon - Sustainable Development”, the exhibition focuses on industrial water treatment chemicals and equipment, new chemical materials for papermaking, paper-based materials and paper packaging for food, green environmental protection products, etc. The opening ceremony was organized by China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC).
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was hosted by Wu Jun, General Manager of China National Chemical Information Center Media Center, Ms. Yulia Astuti, Secretary of the Directorate General of Agricultural Industry, Ministry of Industry of Indonesia, Mr. Wang Wu, Deputy General Manager of China National Chemical Information Center, Mr. Wang Yuezhong, Executive Vice President of the China Packaging Federation, Ms. Liana, President of the Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association, Ms. Phutthasone PHOMVV, Director of the Laos Confederation of Commerce and Industry SME Service Center. Mr. Phutthasone PHOMVISAY attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
Wu Jun, General Manager, Media Center, CNCIC
Wang Wu, Deputy General Manager, CNCIC
Wang Wu, deputy general manager of China National Chemical Information Center, pointed out that under the continuous guidance of the “dual-carbon” target and the concept of circular economy development, China will accelerate the construction of the plastic products recycling system, and support the research and development and application of alternative materials and products for non-degradable disposable plastic products. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment has launched a special action for water pollution remediation in industrial parks, which has ushered in a brand-new development opportunity for environmental protection materials and water treatment related industries.
Ms. Yulia Astuti, Secretary, Directorate General of Agro-Industries, Ministry of Industry, Indonesia
Ms. Yulia Astuti, Secretary of the Directorate General of Agro-Industries, Ministry of Industry of Indonesia, said that the pulp and paper industry had shown a growth trend in the past few years (2017-2023) and was still growing, but it was also facing many threats and challenges. She pointed out that in order to enhance the sustainable competitiveness of the pulp and paper industry, an integrated approach covering economic, social and environmental aspects is required. To achieve this, the following strategies could be adopted:
a. Improve energy efficiency and resource utilization;
b. Use of environmentally friendly and sustainable raw materials;
c. Adopting environmentally friendly technologies;
d. Putting in place good recycling and waste management practices;
e. fulfilling social commitments and promoting community sustainability;
f. Comply with environmental standards;
g. Achieve product innovation and diversification;
h. Building collaboration and partnerships
Wang Yuezhong, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General, China Bauhinia Federation
Wang Yuezhong, executive vice president and secretary-general of the China Packers' Federation, said that plastic pollution control can usually be divided into three schools of thought: First, the EU as the representative of the radical leadership; second, the United States and Japan as the representative of the self-adaptation; third, China as the representative of the steady advancement of our country, the Chinese government put forward an “orderly ban on the restriction of the production, sale and use of some plastic products Our government proposes to “prohibit and restrict the production, sale and use of some plastic products in an orderly manner” and “regulate the recycling of plastic waste, establish a sound management system for the production, circulation, use, recycling and disposal of plastic products, so as to combat plastic pollution in a forceful, orderly and effective manner.”
Major countries and regions around the world in the management of plastic pollution, the construction of policies and regulations system has its own focus, but in general has the following four common points: First, through the development of clear waste plastic recycling and recycling goals, and actively promote the management of plastic pollution; Second, through the ban on the use of single-use plastics to achieve the source of reduction, and thus reduce the pressure on the disposal of plastic waste; Third, through the extension of producer responsibility, the plastic tax to get Third, through the extension of producer responsibility, plastics tax to obtain special financial revenue, the use of financial means to incentivize more recycling of waste plastics; Fourth, through the clear requirements of the amount of recycled plastics added to stimulate the demand for recycled plastics at the production side of the plastics, and promote the recycling of waste plastics.
Wang Yuezhong believes that the most fundamental way to manage plastic pollution is to establish a sound recycling system, especially for low-value recyclables, and it is most crucial to have the full support of the government, which cannot be accomplished by the private sector alone. He advocated that we should adhere to conceptual innovation, theoretical innovation, practical innovation and institutional innovation, and walk out of the road of environmental protection, green and sustainable development with Chinese characteristics.
The exhibition has attracted 15 countries, including Japan, India, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Sweden, etc. Overseas official organizations, such as the Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association, the Lao Federation of Industry and Commerce and the BEXCO Group of South Korea, have been specially invited to organize exhibitions and participation of their member enterprises. During the exhibition, a series of five forums will be held, with the themes of industrial water treatment, green paper making, biodegradable plastics, pulp molding and food paper packaging.
During the opening ceremony, the 2024 China Circular Economy Association Science and Technology Award Certificate Awarding Session was held, and China National Chemical Information Center recommended 27 units to participate in the evaluation from the two major topics of environmental protection materials and water treatment respectively.
